Willmott’s research group is interested in the evolution, ecology and conservation of Neotropical butterflies. Current research includes the use of morphological and molecular data in phylogenetic studies and systematic revisions, field studies of tropical communities to investigate the evolution and ecology of major butterfly radiations, mapping the distributions of Neotropical butterflies and testing biogeographical hypotheses, and using these maps to identify conservation priorities.
