Evolution of Antiviral Immune Signaling

The Kolaczkowski lab’s work on how a family of innate immune receptors recruited a new signaling partner just before the origin of vertebrates was published inĀ PLoS 1. We use a combination of computational and biochemical approaches to investigate how co-evolution among tandemly-duplicated functional domains differentiated deuterostome RIG-like receptor signaling interactions and suggest that functionally-linked gene clusters may have been important for the diversification of innate immune signaling pathways.
